![]() FCP X performed well, but didn’t necessarily outshine the others at SD and HD frame sizes. The playback and media scrubbing responsiveness with optimized media formats and accelerated effects was fairly similar in all three. I compared this against media performance in other NLEs, like Avid Media Composer or Adobe Premiere Pro. ![]() Since some of this performance boost is a due to how FCP X pre-loads media into RAM, the more memory you can install, the better performance you’ll enjoy. Real-time performance is generally maintained at all times with minimal instances of frames being dropped, compared to the “classic” versions of FCP. In my testing, FCP X was very responsive with all types of media with both rendered and unrendered effects. I did my testing on a 1 ½ year old 2.26GHz eight-core Mac Pro (Mac OS X 10.6.8) with 12GB of RAM and the ATI 5870 graphics card.Īll of this optimization pays off in better support for larger formats, such as 4K-sized projects and native editing with H.264 files, like those from a Canon 5D. It is a 64-bit application, which runs on the latest version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (minimum 10.6.7 with ProKit 7.0) or Lion (10.7) and the whole range of recent Apple hardware. The bottom line is that the current Apple video family is focused on a smaller, but more cohesive video group that includes iMovie, Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5 and Compressor 4.įinal Cut Pro X has zero similarity with the previous Final Cut versions. Of course, previous video applications, like Shake and LiveType were eliminated several years ago. For now, Soundtrack Pro still exists as part of the Logic Studio bundle. In a move that has dismayed many loyal users, Apple removed the previous version, thus eliminating Final Cut Studio (Final Cut Pro, Color, DVD Studio Pro, Soundtrack Pro, Compressor, Cinema Tools and Motion), Final Cut Express and Final Cut Server. In addition, the updated Motion 5 and Compressor 4 applications are also available from the App Store for an additional $49.99 each. Unlike the most recent versions of Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Pro X is no longer a suite of applications, but rather a single application, available only via download from the Apple App Store for $299.99. ![]() In June, Apple rolled out Final Cut Pro X (10.0) as the successor to Final Cut Pro. In typical Apple fashion, this also offered the opportunity to re-imagine the inherent concepts of nonlinear editing. With such a storied past, it was clear that a complete, from-the-ground-up rewrite was needed to modernize the code and feature set. After all, Final Cut Pro had evolved from the original Windows-based Key Grip application to a Mac OS 9-based Final Cut Pro, which then flourished under the transition to Mac OS X. Behind the scenes, Apple had been working on an entirely new version designed to take advantage of Apple’s modern operating system and hardware. But it was time for a change, especially after the 2009 update, which many editors felt was too incremental. Apple Final Cut Pro had been rocking along for twelve years, gaining professional market share and becoming a versatile platform for many editors, facilities and developers. If you’re naturally wary of bears and wolves, it may be because your ancestors quickly learned the consequences of not avoiding these animals in the wild. Now, when you’re faced with the choice of helping someone or turning away, your evolutionary inclination toward empathy may encourage you to put yourself in other people ’s shoes and help.Įxamples of behaviors explained by evolutionary psychology Fear of predators In an ancient community, empathy may have allowed for a greater understanding of others, contributing to stronger relationships and more cooperation to ensure everyone ’s well-being.Īs empathy continued to be a beneficial trait practiced by one generation and the next, it eventually made its way to you. You’re able to compare, analyze, recognize patterns, and develop concepts based on the framework you’ve inherited. Tenet 6Įach of your preprogrammed pathways allows your brain to categorize your individual experiences. ![]() In other words, you may have pathways in your brain that have not been created by your behaviors but come from the behaviors and experiences of your ancestors. ![]() The more diverse your pathways, the more challenges you’re able to overcome. The brain has many evolutionary pathways, each one intended to solve a particular problem your ancestors faced. But, since cognitive programming may come from your ancestors, it may still contribute to handling modern-day challenges. Some evolutionary behaviors may hold no benefit in current environments. These evolutionary thought processes have roots in two main goals: survival and reproduction. The pathways your brain has created from gathering and processing information have been influenced over time by ancestral environments. This suggests that understanding your behavior means understanding how you process information, as well as understanding your thought pathways or patterns. Your behaviors are a response to the information your brain has gathered from both its internal and external environment. The pathway becomes stronger the more you repeat the behavior, and it becomes easier or more likely for you to do the behavior. As you engage in the behavior, neurons start to get together and pass the message. When you do something you ’ve never done before, you have no pathway for that specific behavior. ![]() Neural pathways are essential to learning but also to repeating behaviors you ’ve already learned. In other words, a pathway is a group of neurons working together to get something done, like moving your feet to walk or turning the page when you ’re reading. “Pathways” refers to the connections between brain cells, or neurons, that allow messages to travel from one region of the nervous system to another. The brain is a physical system, and its pathways to process information are fine-tuned through natural selection. Your brain’s purpose is to analyze information from the environment like a computer would process information. Leda Cosmides and John Tooby, two of the most influential evolutionary psychologists, outlined six core tenants of evolutionary psychology in a 2005 paper. Over time, most or all foxes developed longer legs.Įvolutionary psychology applies this premise to human thinking and behavior. As the shorter-legged foxes fell prey, only the long-legged foxes lived on to reproduce and pass on their genetic characteristics to their offspring. This creates a process where undesirable traits are more likely to fade over time, while desirable traits carry on strongly.įor example, at some point, foxes with longer legs were able to escape predators more easily. Traits that increase the chance of survival are more likely to be genetically passed on to future generations. This is referred to as natural selection. In sum, Darwin theorized that within a given population, specific traits are more helpful than others when it comes to the survival of the species. ![]() The theory was introduced in his 1859 book “ On the Origin of Species.” It allows for the assumption that many of your core behaviors and ways of processing information are a result of evolution.Įvolutionary psychology is partly based on Charles Darwin ’s theory of evolution. And the next day when we had enough clothes to make a load, I went ahead and did that load, FOLDED it, and PUT AWAY that one load. I don’t know how I came to this revelation, but one week in early January I got all the laundry folded and put away. I was more determined than ever to work on being a better housekeeper, to keeping our home neater, to keeping our bedroom neater. I hated the mess, hated living out of piles and laundry basket, hated that I seriously thought about buying my husband enough pairs of sock to last for 3 weeks so I didn’t have to feel guilty for him searching for socks in the pile every morning, and in general I hated laundry! (Sorry, no pictures of this… way to embarrassing to share.) 2-3 weeks worth of laundry and it would take me over an hour to fold, hang, and put it all away. By this point, we had no clean socks or underwear left in the drawers and we were digging every day to find sock matches or clothes to wear.įinally I would get fed up, dump all the clothes on the bed (ok, usually it was TOO MUCH to fit on the bed at one time) and fold and put it all away. Then it was laundry day again and yet another 5-6 loads got added to the pile on the floor overflowing laundry baskets. Please tell me I am not the only one that has done this? Until I got tired of that or needed to vacuum and it got tossed BACK into the laundry baskets. ![]() And for the next several days, we got dressed out of the pile on the floor. Ok, actually the pile was so big, it just got pushed into the floor. And when we finally headed to bed this is what would happen. Sometimes the laundry even made it from the basket to the bed. Laundry would be done later in the day and I would be downstairs by that time for the evening busy working or spending time with my husband and I would just forget about it. ![]() I despised the FOLDING part of “doing laundry” especially when I had a laundry basket (or TWO) of clothes to fold.Īll those clean clothes got tossed load after load into the laundry basket (a few got hung to dry.) I always intended to FOLD and PUT AWAY the laundry that day too. But that is where my enjoyment stopped and the disaster started. I didn’t mind WASHING the laundry at all or even transferring it from the washer to the dryer. ![]() 4 loads of clothes – 2 dark loads, 1 light colored load, 1 load of whites, a load of towels, and a load of sheets or rugs. I would do 5, 6, or 7 loads that day for a family of 2. It was the day that worked best for my work schedule when I was still working outside the house and it allowed us to start out the week with clean laundry. “Laundry Day” in our house used to be on Monday. But first let me tell you what WASN’T working for me. I know that all of you have been waiting on pins and needles for the secret I have been keeping on how to have an empty laundry basket a huge majority of the time! I should have explained that first I suppose. I only mentioned them because I know they are out there. I stole his idea and converted a couple machines we had. Completely doing away with the need for a steering pump. When he did he installed the fitting in the side of the reverser valve body and updated his steering as well as getting his power assist back. His steering pump had went out and he had removed it. I've also ran into one that had been converted by the owner. For the most part all straight 350s will have the steering assist pump. I've only seen two and at first glance you would swear they were 350Bs. My guess would be right before the 350B was introduced. We're not supposed to know that and Deere denies ever having done it. Deere had a few of these "Special Customers" that would try new things out in the real world before production ever came out. They were probably handled through "Special Customers". The straight 350s with this configuration would be really rare and very late straight 350s. I don't think I left any thing out but maybe some of these other guys can help with your answer. ![]() There are a few older machines, either with or without a reverser that will have a power steering pump mounted on the front of the engine that supplies the hydraulic pressure for the steering assist cylinders. On a few straight 350s and most 350B models, which have dry clutches, the reverser supplies hydraulic pressure to steering assist cylinders that help in steering effort at the levers. On older dry clutch machines, there is a mechanical pressure plate that engages the clutch packs. The 350C and 350D have wet or oil bath clutches and brakes. The reverser used in the C and D models supply the hydraulic pressure needed to engage the clutch packs on these models. But, with a few minor modifications you can install one from a straight 350 into a 350C or a 350D. There are a few little things that are different from the Straight 350 through 350D models. The reverser is identical for the most part in any model that it is in. ![]() This is a copy from a post I made on the Geforce forums, really would like to fix this issue as it is becoming frustrating. Something that may be notable is the PSU I'm using is a 450. Go to the menu and select settings in the drop down menu. I have tried IE to see if it was a browser problem but from my test it seems like its just chrome. I had a similar issue and found that if I turn off hardware acceleration it works better. If I'm browsing Google the text will stop being shown as entered but when the freeze finishes it'll display what I've typed out. When the freeze happens everything continues, so if I'm watching a youtube video the sound will continue to play in the background. The problem I'm having with the card is whenever I'm using chrome I would get this lag/freeze/stutter where the display would stop and freeze for a moment, 2-3 seconds and then continue. League of legends, CS:GO and GTA 5 were what I used to test and all ran pretty well, no issues popped up. I have played a few games just to see how the graphics card is and all seems well.
